Manufacturing

It should be mentioned right from the start that in keeping with our policies of community and environmental awareness, Precision Tracking Systems only employs methods of manufacture that are environmentally friendly. This includes the manufacturers we may contract on your behalf. We thought you should know.

As always, we design to manufacture. This means that not only can we control the manufacturing and production schedules so that no time or money is wasted, but that the actual assembly processes will be more efficient because manufacturing criteria was accounted for in the design cycles. When part one is needed, it is there. Part two will be there at the appropriate time along with part seventeen which it interacts with. Remember, your product was pre-built on the computer with all subassemblies fully integrated before we ever went to press. Our reject rate for finished goods over the last 3 years is ZERO. Like we said a few pages ago, no one likes re-do's.

The biggest problem has always been the number of vendors that get involved and the logistics nightmare of when is what part going to be ready and will it be the one we need now and when does it get here. Once here, will it fit with some other part that won't be here for two weeks yet? You know the story. Well, we've figured out how to orchestrate the manufacturing process so everything comes out in the right order. In fact, we've gotten so good at it, we'd like to do it for you.

When we've completed the Product Engineering process it's time to begin manufacturing. Generally this involves a minimum production run followed of course by subsequent builds that can run into thousands of units. Almost every fabricator has a minimum lot charge and doing less than 25 units may not be the most cost effective way to go. While some of our customers have ordered 5 or 10 units only, they ended up spending the same money they would have spent for 25 or 50; for this reason PTS likes to recommend that if you're going to have a minimum run manufactured, that you give serious consideration to doing at least 25 to 100 units first. We'll be glad to let you know where your break even point is.
